How Exacta works

From the first clinical question to a report discussed with your oncology team.

  1. 01

Discuss whether testing could be useful

The oncologist reviews the diagnosis, earlier tests, previous treatments, and the question that further profiling might address. Discuss standard-care options, clinical trials, and supportive care alongside testing.

Questions to take to the appointment
  2. 02

    Confirm availability, scope, and cost

The clinician and laboratory confirm the patient’s state, the intended analyses, specimen requirements, consent, and financial responsibility before collection.

  3. 03

    Arrange the specimen

The care team arranges blood collection and/or tissue collection or retrieval. The laboratory confirms which materials are suitable and provides the applicable transport and shipping instructions.

A biopsy is a clinical procedure with risks that your doctor should explain. Do not arrange a new biopsy or ship a sample based only on this website.

  4. 04

Check the sample and run the analyses

The laboratory evaluates the specimen and carries out the appropriate molecular and functional work. Sample quality and viable-cell availability may affect which analyses can be completed.

See the technology behind each analysis
  5. 05

Integrate the findings into a report

Findings are assembled with supporting information for professional interpretation. Exacta-AI is the described decision-support component; the report still requires clinical review.

  6. 06

    Discuss what the results mean

Your oncologist reviews the report with your medical history and explains whether it changes the available options. No treatment change should be made without that discussion.

    Patient guide: after ordering

How long does it take?

The existing global process page describes report release in about 10–12 working days, while the technology page describes a final report within 12 days of sample receipt. These descriptions are not a verified US turnaround commitment. Confirm the current timing, its start point, shipping time, and potential delays with the laboratory before proceeding.

What if a sample cannot be tested?

Ask in advance about insufficient material, failure to obtain suitable viable cells, repeat sampling, and whether a partial report can be issued. Confirm how these situations affect fees, turnaround time, and the next clinical step.
