What is Exacta?

A tumor-profiling service that brings molecular findings and laboratory drug-response information into one clinical picture.

The service, explained

Exacta is a laboratory testing and interpretation service from Datar Cancer Genetics for clinician-directed evaluation of solid tumors. It examines several kinds of information about a person’s cancer, using tumor tissue and/or blood according to the testing pathway.

The service combines molecular profiling with functional testing of viable tumor-derived or circulating tumor-associated cells when suitable material is available. The output is a report for the treating oncologist, who considers the findings alongside the patient’s history, prior treatment, and current condition.

FOR CLINICIAN REVIEWAn integrated report

Findings, supporting evidence, candidate options, and limitations.

Why look at more than one layer?

A DNA change is one part of a tumor’s biology. RNA activity and protein expression can add information about pathways operating in the cells. Drug-response testing asks a different question: how do sampled living cells respond when exposed to a drug in the laboratory?

Exacta brings these complementary observations together. The clinical value depends on whether the findings are reliable, relevant, and actionable for that patient.

Who is it intended to help?

The published studies and product materials focus on advanced solid tumors, including cancers that have progressed after earlier systemic treatments. An oncologist may consider whether additional profiling could inform the next discussion about care. Testing is not appropriate or feasible for every patient.

For someone whose treatment options are becoming limited, the practical aim is to give the oncology team additional information to assess—not to promise that another effective treatment will be found.

What does the clinician receive?

A tumor profile

Molecular and functional findings, with specimen and method information.

Evidence in context

Connections between reported findings and literature relevant to a clinical review.

Decision-support material

Candidate options and considerations for the oncologist or molecular tumor board to evaluate.

Exacta-AI adds a decision-support layer described by the company as organizing complex findings and evidence for professional review. The laboratory test, the interpretation, and the decision to treat are distinct steps.

What Exacta does—and does not—provide

Exacta provides information to support a treatment discussion. It is not itself a cancer medicine, a treatment program, an early-detection screening test, or a guarantee of a response. It does not replace the oncologist, standard diagnostic work-up, required companion diagnostics, or a discussion of clinical trials and supportive care.
